MTG Collector Offers $50,000 To Throw One Ring Card Into A Volcano

Magic: The Gathering and The Lord of the Rings fans have come together to marvel at the Tales of Middle-earth crossover. A collection that will bring iconic Tolkien characters to MTG, including various cards that will represent the tale's rings. There will also be a one-of-a-kind The One Ring card, and someone is offering $50,000 to whoever finds it providing they can scale a volcano together and toss the card in once they reach the summit.

The tantalizing offer has been made by someone called Dan Bock. Yes, for those who have been following this saga, that's the same Dan Bock who previously offered $100,000 for the card providing the seller not tell anyone they had it before the transaction was complete. It seems Bock has changed their mind as they now want to pay half as much to throw the card into a volcano.

“If you find the ring, I'll pay you $50k, and we throw it into a volcano,” Bock's new offer reads. An offer that appears to have tempted more people than the original one, presumably because even though it's half the cash, they get the attention that will come with finding a one-of-a-kind card.

Bock isn't the first to joke that The One Ring must be thrown into a volcano. In fact, so many people have suggested that's exactly what they'll do if they find it that MTG's Head Designer felt the need to issue a statement urging people not to do that due to how dangerous it would be. Some of you have also pointed out the card needs to be destroyed where it was created, as was the case for The One Ring, and no, it wasn't forged in the fires of Mount Doom.

If you do plan on seeking out The One Ring, know that there is technically more than one of them out there. The One Ring you need to be on the lookout for is a serialized foil version that will be placed inside just one booster pack. If you don't want to keep that piece of History in your collection forever, I'd consider selling it under a normal set of circumstances before you scale a volcano with a stranger.
