SteamWorld Build To Launch Later This Year, Demo Available Now

SteamWorld is set to leap to yet another genre later this year with SteamWorld Build, a city builder that has you play as a steambot architect building a post-apocalyptic wild west-style town atop an abandoned mine full of monsters. For those unfamiliar with SteamWorld, it's a franchise that first got started as a tower defense Game on the Nintendo DS back in 2010. Since then, it's branched off into Metroidvanias with SteamWorld Dig and Dig 2, turn-based strategy in SteamWorld Heist, and an RPG deck builder in SteamWorld Quest. Now in SteamWorld Build, the steambots will take on Cities: Skylines with its own unique twist. MTG's Phyrexia: All Will Be One Card Lets You Kill Your Opponent In Just Two Turns

Magic: The Gathering’s next set, Phyrexia: All Will Be One, is currently being previewed. While we’ve seen all kinds of big, splashy cards, the one that’s given players the fear is, of all things, a tiny little Goblin Warrior. With just three cards and two lands, Cacophony Scamp can wipe an opponent out as early as turn two. Even more scarily, this combo works in both Modern and Pioneer, where it could give birth to a new take on the deck known as Hammer Time. RELATED: Magic: The Gathering – Phyrexia: All Will Be One Previews As noted on Reddit, Cacophony Scamp is an unassuming 1/1 Goblin Warrior costing just one red mana. It doesn’t have haste, but it does have two big upsides: it can sacrifice itself once it’s dealt combat damage, and when it dies, it deals damage equal to its power to any other target. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY With these two abilities, Cacophony Scamp becomes an absolute fiend when paired with the Hammer Time staple

Fired WoW Lead Says Blizzard Is Being "Torn Apart" By Bosses

A fired World of Warcraft lead engineer has spoken out after news of his termination was leaked last night. According to both the initial report and his own testimony, Brian Birmingham was fired after he failed to meet a quota on negative employee evaluations, with bosses requiring him to mark down five percent of the coworkers he assessed. Birmingham, who was the lead software engineer on Warcraft Classic, worked at Blizzard for 17 years prior to his dismissal. Now that the news is public, Birmingham is using the opportunity to shed some light on the working conditions within the company, suggesting that little has changed in some areas, even after allegations of abuse in the workplace were made public in 2021. The Last Of Us Show Confirms How The Virus Spread

HBO's The Last Of Us is well and truly off and running now, its second episode airing on Sunday night. That episode confirmed a fan theory regarding how exactly the cordyceps fungus was able to spread so quickly. Be warned if you haven't seen the first two episodes of the show, the rest of this article is teeming with pretty significant spoilers. Just hours after the show premiered nine days ago, fan theories started to swirl pointing to contaminated flour being the root of what quickly becomes an effectively world-ending pandemic. Ubisoft Paris Unions To Hold Strike This Friday

Last week, Ubisoft Paris called for strikes due to low pay and "exhausting" development cycles, while also claiming that CEO Yves Guillemot had shifted the blame for the company's financial troubles to employees. Those strikes are now going ahead, as two unions have called on employees to hold them this Friday. STJV and Solidaires Informatique released a statement that calls out Ubisoft management for continuing to "question the work carried out [by employees] without ever considering the possibility of its own failures and blindness" (as reported by Libération and Euro Game r). The Last Of Us Show's Piano Frog Was Supposed To Be Eaten

The Last Of Us's HBO adaptation is now two episodes old. Episode two has sparked all sorts of new discussions, but you probably didn't expect one of those discussions to revolve around the cameo of a piano-playing frog. Okay, to call the amphibian a piano player might be a stretch. The frog is shown hopping between keys as Joel, Ellie, and Tess wade through a waterlogged hotel lobby. The musical frog has inspired a fair few memes since its debut, prompting Neil Druckmann to give fans a little background on the animal. RELATED: The Last Of Us Fans Are Divided Over Episode 2’s Gross Ending Turns out its brief appearance as a Last Of Us cast member was initially supposed to be far more harrowing. Druckmann revealed the frog was supposed to be tinkling the ivories with a bird, and in turn, that bird was supposed to eat the frog. As if having to see a zombie's tendrils creep into Tess's mouth via the worst on-screen kiss of all time wasn't bad enough, viewers w

The Last Of Us Almost Had DLC About Ellie's Mum

With two massive triple-A Game s, an award-winning DLC, and a popular comic series under its belt, you would think that the story of The Last of Us is complete.
